Buying and selling Danish kroner in Warsaw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We handle both sides of the transaction. Coming back from Denmark with cash? We buy your kroner at the current buy rate. Heading there? DKK banknotes are available on the spot; for larger amounts it is worth calling ahead to confirm denominations. We deal in banknotes only and do not accept Danish coins. Exchange covers the 2009 series: 50, 100, 200 and 500 kroner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What drives the DKK\/PLN rate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Danish krone is unusual among European currencies. Since 1999 Denmark has kept it in the ERM II mechanism, with a fixed central rate of 7.46038 DKK per euro and a \u00b12.25% fluctuation band \u2014 in practice Danmarks Nationalbank holds the rate even closer to parity. The result: DKK\/PLN moves almost exactly like the euro rate<\/a> divided by 7.46. If you want to guess where the krone is heading, watch EUR\/PLN \u2014 decisions by the NBP and the ECB matter far more here than Danish data itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which Danish banknotes we accept<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since 1 June 2026 the rule is simple: only 2009-series notes of 50, 100, 200 and 500 kroner hold value. Danmarks Nationalbank has just completed its largest banknote recall since World War II \u2014 the older series (1944, 1952, 1972 and 1997) and all 1000-krone notes ceased to be legal tender on 31 May 2025, and 31 May 2026 was the final deadline for exchanging them at the central bank. We do not buy these notes: they no longer have face value, only potential collector value. We also do not accept Faroese banknotes \u2014 the Faroe Islands use their own designs, even though their krona is pegged 1:1 to the Danish krone. Damaged, marked or taped notes are priced individually at the counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the exchange works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Check the current rate on our homepage, then come to Grzybowska 61 \u2014 a transaction takes a few minutes and no appointment is needed. Bring ID only for larger amounts: under the Polish AML act, transactions of EUR 15,000 equivalent or more require client identification. We operate under an entry in the NBP register of currency exchange offices. Besides currencies, we also run gold buying in Warsaw<\/a> at the same counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reserve a rate for one hour<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can lock the online rate for 60 minutes \u2014 fill in the reservation form on the homepage and mention the online price at the counter. Handy for larger amounts, or when the rate is good and you need time to get here. Reservations are free and non-binding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is today’s Danish krone rate at the kantor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Current buy and sell rates for DKK are shown in the rates table on our homepage, updated continuously during opening hours. The counter rate matches the online rate if you mention it, and for larger amounts you can negotiate by phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I exchange a 1000-krone Danish banknote?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

No. The 1000-krone note ceased to be legal tender on 31 May 2025, and 31 May 2026 was the final deadline for exchanging it at Danmarks Nationalbank. Since then it has no face value, so no exchange office can buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about older Danish banknote series from before 2009?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 1944, 1952, 1972 and 1997 series shared the fate of the 1000-krone note: after 31 May 2026 they lost their value and can no longer be exchanged at the central bank. At most they retain collector value \u2014 ask a numismatist for a valuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you buy Danish coins?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

No, we exchange banknotes only. Danish coins are best spent in Denmark or kept for your next trip \u2014 transport and sorting costs mean exchange offices in Poland do not accept them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you accept banknotes from the Faroe Islands?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

No. The Faroese kr\u00f3na is pegged 1:1 to the Danish krone, but the banknotes have separate designs and do not circulate in the Polish exchange market. We buy Danish national banknotes of the 2009 series only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
