The Turkish lira (TRY) is the official currency of T\u00fcrkiye, issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye (TCMB). At Kantor Argentarii in Warsaw you can buy lira before your trip and sell any banknotes you bring back \u2013 quickly and at the current rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current Turkish lira rate (TRY\/PLN)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

They are updated continuously during opening hours and are more favourable than the board, so ask the cashier for them in store. The rate is the same regardless of the amount. The National Bank of Poland publishes a TRY rate every business day in table A, but that is a reference mid-rate only \u2013 a kantor always quotes two prices: buy and sell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much is 1 000 TRY in z\u0142oty<\/h2>\n\n\n

At the NBP mid rate, 1 TRY = 0.0785 z\u0142 (table 188\/A\/NBP\/2026 of 28 September 2026), which means 1 z\u0142 = 12.7389 TRY.<\/p>

At the Argentarii exchange office at Grzybowska 61 we buy TRY today at 0.0780 z\u0142 and sell at 0.0830 z\u0142 (website rate, updated 27.09.2026, 12:47).<\/p>

How much is 1 Turkish lira in z\u0142oty?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The lira has a low unit value today \u2013 one lira is worth a few groszy, so it is easier to think in hundreds and thousands. Instead of doing the maths yourself, enter the amount in the calculator above<\/a>: it converts TRY to z\u0142oty at our live buy and sell rate rather than at the NBP mid-rate, so you see straight away what you will actually receive for 100, 1,000 or 5,000 lira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to buy and sell Turkish lira in Warsaw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

T\u00fcrkiye is one of the most popular holiday destinations from Poland, yet not every exchange office stocks the lira \u2013 many handle only the major pairs. At Argentarii you can buy lira before your flight and sell the banknotes left over after a trip to Antalya, Istanbul or Bodrum. We also handle exchange of more than twenty other currencies<\/a>, including exotic ones such as the Albanian lek<\/a> or the UAE dirham<\/a>. For larger amounts it is worth calling ahead. What drives the TRY\/PLN rate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The lira floats freely. Its quotations are driven mainly by inflation in T\u00fcrkiye and the interest-rate policy of the Central Bank of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, and then by tourism revenue and foreign capital flows. The lira-to-z\u0142oty rate is usually calculated through the dollar and euro pairs, so the euro rate<\/a> and the dollar rate<\/a> against the z\u0142oty also affect the price of TRY in Poland. We do not forecast rates and we do not advise on timing. We simply publish the rate that applies right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which Turkish banknotes we accept<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Six banknote denominations are in circulation: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 lira \u2013 the ninth emission group (E-9). We do not buy kuru\u015f coins, so it is best to spend small change before you leave. Watch out for older notes: the eighth emission group marked \u201cYeni T\u00fcrk Liras\u0131\u201d (YTL) was withdrawn on 1 January 2010 and the redemption period at the Turkish central bank ended on 31 December 2019 \u2013 neither a kantor nor a bank accepts them any more. Lira from before the 2005 redenomination, when six zeros were dropped (1,000,000 old lira = 1 new lira), are worthless too. We do not accept damaged banknotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the exchange works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Check the current rate and come to Grzybowska 61. The exchange takes a few minutes: you state the amount, we confirm the rate and pay out cash on the spot. ID is required only for transactions of EUR 15,000 equivalent or more, in line with AML regulations. The kantor is entered in the NBP register of currency-exchange offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it better to exchange money in Poland or in T\u00fcrkiye?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is worth having lira on arrival \u2013 for the transfer, water or a first meal, as rates in the arrivals hall are usually noticeably worse. The rest can be exchanged locally. Exchanging z\u0142oty in T\u00fcrkiye is difficult: few exchange offices buy PLN, and usually at a less favourable rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you buy back Turkish lira after a trip?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes, we buy all circulating banknote denominations: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 lira. We do not accept kuru\u015f coins, so it is best to spend the change before returning. We do not buy withdrawn YTL notes or pre-2005 lira. They are no longer valid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I pay in euros or dollars in T\u00fcrkiye?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The official currency is the lira and prices are quoted in it. Hotels and tourist areas sometimes accept euros, but usually at an inflated conversion, and change is given in lira anyway. Paying in lira avoids a double conversion \u2013 so it is worth preparing cash before you travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
