The UAE dirham (AED) is the official currency of the United Arab Emirates \u2013 Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the five remaining emirates. At the Argentarii kantor in Warsaw you can buy dirhams before you fly and sell the notes you bring back, at the current rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current UAE dirham rate (AED\/PLN)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You will find the current buy and sell rates for the dirham on the agkantor.pl homepage<\/a>. We update them throughout opening hours. They are more favourable than the board, so ask the cashier for them when you exchange in person. The rate is the same regardless of the amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Bank of Poland publishes the AED rate only once a week, in table B of foreign exchange rates \u2013 unlike the euro or the dollar, which are quoted daily. Exchange office rates can therefore differ from the last NBP publication, so always check the rate on the day you exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How much is 100 AED in z\u0142oty<\/h2>\n\n\n

At the NBP mid rate, 1 AED = 1.0394 z\u0142 (table 038\/B\/NBP\/2026 of 23 September 2026), which means 1 z\u0142 = 0.9621 AED.<\/p>

How much is 1 dirham and 100 dirhams in z\u0142oty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The dirham is one of the easier currencies to convert in your head: for years its rate has stayed close to the z\u0142oty \u2013 usually somewhere between 1.00 and 1.20 PLN per 1 AED. As a rough guide, 100 dirhams is 100\u2013120 PLN and 1,000 dirhams is around 1,000\u20131,200 PLN, which makes Dubai price tags readable almost one to one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is an approximation only. For an exact figure \u2013 whether 100, 500 or 1,000 AED \u2013 use the calculator above<\/a>, which runs on the rates we apply in the kantor. It works both ways: you can check what you will pay for dirhams and what you will get for the ones you bring back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to buy and sell dirhams in Warsaw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The dirham is not a currency you will find in every exchange office \u2013 most of them handle a dozen or so of the most popular currencies and stop there. At Argentarii, AED is a permanent part of the offer, alongside more than twenty other currencies<\/a>, including exotic ones such as Turkish lira<\/a> Albanian lek<\/a> and the Chinese yuan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We both sell dirhams before a trip and buy the banknotes back afterwards. For larger amounts \u2013 and a trip to the Emirates easily runs to several thousand dirhams \u2013 it is worth calling ahead: we will confirm availability and prepare the denominations you need for an agreed time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What currency is used in Dubai and the UAE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One currency is used across the whole of the United Arab Emirates \u2013 the UAE dirham, code AED, informally written as “Dh” or “DHS”. Dubai has no separate currency of its own, so the “Dubai currency” and the Emirati dirham are exactly the same thing. One dirham is divided into 100 fils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cards are accepted without any trouble in hotels, malls and restaurants. Cash is useful in the souks, where you haggle anyway, in taxis, in smaller places in Deira and Bur Dubai, and for tips. Watch out for card payments converted straight into your home currency (DCC) \u2013 the merchant’s terminal sets the rate and it usually works out worse than exchanging cash in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What drives the AED\/PLN rate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The dirham is pegged to the US dollar: since November 1997 the Central Bank of the UAE has maintained a fixed parity of 3.6725 AED to 1 USD. In practice this means the AED\/PLN rate has nothing to do with what happens in the Emirates and everything to do with the dollar\u2013z\u0142oty<\/a> pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So if you are tracking the dirham before a trip, just watch the dollar \u2013 the two move together almost to the grosz. Indirectly the euro rate<\/a> matters too, since it largely sets where the z\u0142oty trades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which Emirati banknotes we accept<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Banknotes in circulation are 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 dirhams. Since 2021 the CBUAE has been gradually replacing them with a polymer series: it started with the 50, the 5 and 10 followed in 2022, the 500 and 1,000 in 2023, and the 100 in 2025. Older paper notes remain legal tender and circulate alongside the polymer ones, so we accept both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not buy coins \u2013 1 dirham, 25 and 50 fils \u2013 just as we do not buy coins in any other currency, so it is best to spend your change before flying home. We do not accept damaged, taped or heavily soiled notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAE dirham vs Moroccan dirham \u2013 two different currencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The word “dirham” covers two entirely different currencies: the UAE dirham (AED) and the Moroccan dirham (MAD). In the NBP table B of 5 August 2026 the Emirati dirham was worth 1.0159 PLN and the Moroccan one 0.4006 PLN \u2013 a difference of roughly two and a half times, and an expensive mistake to make when planning a travel budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a practical difference too. The Moroccan dirham has limited convertibility and its export from Morocco is capped, which is why Polish exchange offices usually do not carry it. You buy it once you are there. The UAE dirham is fully convertible and can be taken in and out freely. At Argentarii we exchange Emirati dirhams (AED).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How the exchange works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Check the current rate and come to Grzybowska 61. The exchange takes a few minutes: you give the amount, we confirm the rate and pay out cash straight away. An ID document is only required for transactions equivalent to EUR 15,000 or more, in line with AML rules. The kantor operates on the basis of an entry in the NBP register of currency exchange activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it better to exchange z\u0142oty for dirhams in Poland or in Dubai?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Exchanging in Poland means you land with cash for the first expenses: a taxi, tips or the souk.
