How currency exchange works at our office
The whole procedure takes a few minutes. Here is what to expect:
- Check the current rate — in the table above or directly at the counter. Online rates for our users are better.
- Come to the exchange office with cash — we accept banknotes in good condition, we do not accept coins or damaged banknotes.
- Receive your exchanged currency — staff count the banknotes in front of you and issue a transaction confirmation.
- For transactions of EUR 15,000 and above — under the AML/CFT Act we are required to verify your identity using a national ID, passport, or residence permit.

Argentarii Sp. z o.o. operates as a registered currency exchange office under the supervision of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), in accordance with the Polish Foreign Exchange Act of 27 July 2002 and the AML/CFT Act. Every transaction equivalent to EUR 15,000 or more requires a valid identity document — this is not our policy, but a legal obligation under Polish and EU law. Our office is monitored 24/7, and we verify banknotes using counterfeit detectors.

Do I need an ID to exchange currency at Argentarii?
Only for transactions equivalent to EUR 15,000 or more (calculated at the average NBP rate). This is required by the AML/CFT Act. For smaller amounts, the exchange remains anonymous.
