Gold coins for sale in Warsaw

In addition to buying, we also sell gold bullion and collector coins. Our offer includes coins we currently have in stock — among others the 20 Francs and the British Sovereign, and periodically also Krugerrands, Britannias and NBP coins. Current selling prices are shown in the "Selling price" column in the price list above. Items marked "Ask for availability" are confirmed by phone — we will check current stock and quote the price.

Our selling prices are based on the LBMA spot rate, so they are transparent and tied to the current gold market. If you are also interested in gold buying in Warsaw, we also appraise and buy back gold bars and scrap. Transactions take place on site, at our location in the centre of Warsaw (Platinum Towers, ul. Grzybowska 61), with full documentation and in line with AML/CFT procedures.

Looking for a specific gold investment or collector coin? Get in touch to check availability and reserve your chosen item. We also run a currency exchange office in Warsaw.

Gold price and bullion coin valuation

The value of a bullion coin comes primarily from its pure gold content and the current market quote. You will find the live rate and an NBP-based chart below; collector coins are valued individually, taking numismatic value into account. We also buy scrap gold and jewellery — see our gold buying page for details.

Most popular gold bullion coins

Krugerrand, Britannia, Maple Leaf, Philharmoniker, Kangaroo — investment gold we buy at LBMA spot

Bullion coins are investment gold in coin form, with guaranteed purity of 999.9 or 916. They are struck at national mints — South Africa, Australia, Canada, Austria, the United Kingdom. Each piece carries a mintage, year of issue and net weight, which keeps valuation transparent for both sides. At Argentarii we buy every year of every popular bullion issue, with the price set by current LBMA pricing and metal purity.
Krugerrand (South Africa, 1 oz) arrow
The world's first modern bullion coin. Struck at the South African Mint since 1967. Purity 916.7 (22 carats) — the remaining 8.3% is copper, which increases scratch resistance. Gross weight 33.93 g, pure gold content 31.1 g (1 oz). We buy every year of issue regardless of capsule condition.
Britannia arrow
British bullion coin struck at the Royal Mint since 1987. From 2013 onward purity is 999.9 — the highest among official issues. Weight 31.1 g, contains one troy ounce of pure gold. The 2021 redesign introduced laser security features visible at a specific angle. Legal tender status in the UK keeps it exempt from VAT in collector trade.
Maple Leaf (Canada, 1 oz) arrow
Canadian 999.9 purity coin, struck at the Royal Canadian Mint since 1979. The maple leaf design is among the most recognisable on the bullion market. Since 2015 each piece carries a micro-engraved security mark visible under magnification. Face value 50 CAD, weight 31.1 g. We accept every year, including coins without original capsules.
Wiener Philharmoniker (Austria, 1 oz) arrow
Austrian bullion coin from Münze Österreich, issued since 1989. Purity 999.9, face value 100 EUR (after the schilling was replaced in 2002). Europe's best-selling bullion coin by annual volume. The reverse depicts instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra — hence the name.
Australian Kangaroo / Nugget (Australia, 1 oz) arrow
Struck at the Perth Mint since 1986 — originally as the "Nugget", and from 1989 with a kangaroo design that changes every year. Purity 999.9, weight 31.1 g, face value 100 AUD. The annual design change gives the coin collector value alongside bullion content. We buy at LBMA price without numismatic premium for standard issues.

Polish NBP and collector gold coins

The National Bank of Poland has issued gold commemorative coins since 1995. The most recognisable series is Orzeł Bielik (White-Tailed Eagle) with face values of 50, 100, 200 and 500 PLN, purity 999.9, struck at Mennica Polska. The 500 PLN Orzeł Bielik weighs 31.1 g (1 oz) and has been issued annually since 2014; we buy it as a bullion coin with only a minimal collector premium. Beyond bullion issues, NBP releases commemorative numismatics dedicated to historical events and cultural figures — usually at 100 and 200 PLN. Mintages are limited, typically between 1,000 and 10,000 pieces, which lifts collector value above the bare metal price. We also buy pre-war Polish ducats, including 10 and 20 PLN issues from the Second Republic (Chrobry head, Kościuszko bust), tsarist coins of 5, 10 and 15 roubles, and Polish wartime issues. Each numismatic piece is valued individually — the final price reflects metal content plus a collector premium based on rarity and condition.

Safety guarantee

Professional gold coin valuation

Valuation is the first step before any buyback. We use an XRF spectrometer for non-invasive purity testing accurate to 0.1%, an analytical scale with 0.01 g resolution and digital callipers for diameter measurement. For bullion issues — Krugerrand, Britannia, Maple Leaf, Philharmoniker, Kangaroo — the reference is the LBMA fixing, updated twice daily. Numismatic coins are valued individually, with a collector premium based on mintage, year of issue and condition.

Every coin is checked in front of the client. You see the spectrometer reading, net weight and the final price calculation. You don't sign preliminary agreements or leave coins for later verification — the decision is yours after the valuation is presented.

Safe transaction

How gold coin buying works at Argentarii

The whole process usually takes 15–20 minutes.

  1. Book a visit by phone at +48 791 901 979 or by email at agkantor.wawa@gmail.com. For transactions above PLN 50,000 please call ahead so we can reserve the cash.
  2. Bring coins in their original capsules if they were preserved at issue. A missing capsule doesn't disqualify the coin — it only affects the price of collector pieces.
  3. On site we test purity with an XRF spectrometer, measure net weight, verify stamp authenticity and diameter.
  4. We present the buyback price with a breakdown of metal value and collector premium, where applicable.
  5. Once accepted, we pay cash on the spot in PLN, EUR or USD up to the AML threshold. Above the threshold we settle by instant transfer.

For transactions above EUR 1,000 a valid ID is required — this is a standard AML/CFT obligation that applies to every precious metals buyer in Poland.

Valuation

Why clients choose Argentarii for gold coins

Spreads closer to LBMA, not to pawnshop margins. For popular bullion issues our spread stays within 2–4% of the fixing — standard for dealer-grade exchanges. Pawnshops and general metal buyers typically operate at 8–15%.

XRF valuation in front of the client. The X-ray spectrometer shows exact purity with no drilling, filing or acid testing. You see the reading on the device's screen.

Cash on the spot in three currencies. PLN, EUR and USD — our currency exchange is in the same office, so foreign-currency settlement takes no extra visit.

City centre location. Platinum Towers, ul. Grzybowska 61. Three minutes from Rondo ONZ metro station (line M2), urban parking zone C.

AML/CTF compliance

Licence, AML and company history

Argentarii Sp. z o.o. (Argentarii Kantor Exchange) has been operating as a currency exchange in Warsaw since 2012. We are listed in the register of currency exchange activity maintained by the National Bank of Poland and fulfil our obligations as a designated institution under Polish anti-money-laundering law (AML/CFT).

What this means for the client:
  • every transaction is documented (receipt or invoice),
  • above the statutory threshold we verify identity by ID document,
  • funds come from and are paid out only from legitimate sources,
  • the right to decline a transaction in case of reasonable doubt is regulatory standard, not service obstruction.

Full AML compliance protects the client just as it protects us — it ensures the transaction cannot be challenged later.

Warsaw Centre

What to bring to your visit

A short checklist for a smooth visit:
  • coins in their original capsules or blisters, if preserved,
  • certificates of origin if they were issued with the coin,
  • a valid ID — national ID card or passport (for foreign nationals),
  • for transactions above PLN 50,000 a phone call ahead so we can reserve cash in the right currency.

What not to do before your visit: don't clean coins with chemicals and don't polish the surface. Removing original patina lowers the valuation of collector pieces by up to 20–30%, and in extreme cases disqualifies the coin from numismatic trade entirely.

Cash to go

Pre-valuation online or by phone

If you want to estimate the value of your collection before visiting, send photos of obverse and reverse to agkantor.wawa@gmail.com or via WhatsApp at +48 791 901 979. Include face value, year of issue and — where visible on the coin — diameter in millimetres.

During office hours we typically reply within 2–3 hours with an indicative price range. Remote valuations are preliminary — the final price is set after physical inspection with the XRF spectrometer and analytical scale at our office.

Gold coin buying — frequently asked questions

Common questions our clients ask about bullion and collector coin buybacks at our office in central Warsaw.
What is the current buyback price of a gold coin? arrow
The buyback price depends on the current LBMA Gold Price fixing, net gold weight in the coin and its purity. For bullion coins in original mint capsules (Krugerrand, Maple Leaf, Britannia, Philharmoniker, Kangaroo) we pay close to spot with a minimal spread. Collector coin valuations include an additional numismatic premium. Current rates are shown in the table above; we provide a full valuation at our office or by phone at +48 791 901 979.
Which gold coins fetch the highest buyback price? arrow
The best prices go to 999.9-purity bullion coins in their original capsules — Britannia from 2013 onward, Maple Leaf, Wiener Philharmoniker and Australian Kangaroo. The Krugerrand, despite lower 916.7 purity, contains the same 31.1 g of pure gold and trades at a comparable price. Polish 500 PLN Orzeł Bielik coins are also bought close to spot.
Do you buy coins without certificate or capsule? arrow
Yes. A missing original capsule, blister pack or certificate doesn't disqualify the coin — it only affects the final price of collector pieces, typically 5–10% below a complete-set example. For bullion coins we verify authenticity by XRF and weight; the absence of a capsule doesn't reduce the valuation.
Is ID required when selling coins? arrow
Yes. Any transaction above EUR 1,000 (or its PLN equivalent) requires a valid ID document — this is a statutory AML/CFT requirement that applies to every metals buyer in Poland. We also keep records of smaller transactions in line with our licence. Foreign nationals may use a passport.
Do you buy Polish NBP gold coins of 500 PLN and 200 PLN? arrow
Yes. We accept every year of the Orzeł Bielik series (500 PLN, 1 oz, purity 999.9), as well as 200 PLN issues and other NBP commemorative coins. Prices for bullion-grade issues match spot quotation with a possible collector premium based on mintage and condition. Low-mintage numismatic pieces are valued individually after physical inspection.
How is the buyback price calculated? arrow
The reference is the LBMA fixing (London Bullion Market Association), updated twice daily. From spot we deduct a spread, typically 2–4% for bullion coins in complete condition. For numismatic pieces we add a collector premium on top of metal value, set by mintage, condition and current market demand.
Where is the gold coin buying office located in Warsaw? arrow
Our office is in central Warsaw — Platinum Towers, ul. Grzybowska 61. Three minutes from Rondo ONZ metro station (line M2), or by tram via Aleja Jana Pawła II. For transactions above PLN 50,000 please call ahead at +48 791 901 979 so we can reserve the cash.
Can I buy gold coins at Argentarii? arrow
Yes, in addition to buying we also sell gold bullion and collector coins. Availability varies — we confirm the current selection and selling prices by phone or in person at our location in the centre of Warsaw.
Which gold coins are available for sale? arrow
The most commonly available are popular bullion and investment coins, including the 20 Francs, the Sovereign, the Krugerrand and NBP coins. As we sell coins from current stock, it is best to call ahead and confirm the availability of a specific item.
