US Dollar Exchange in Warsaw – Buy USD at Argentarii Kantor

US dollar to złoty exchange at Argentarii kantor — Warsaw, Grzybowska 61

You usually check the dollar exchange rate in Warsaw when you need to do something with it right away – pick up a wire from the US, get USD before a trip, or sell bills after coming back. At Argentarii kantor on ul. Grzybowska 61 (Platinum Towers) we buy and sell US dollars at the rate from our site – no commission, no minimum. We update USD/PLN rates in real time, and we can hold your chosen rate for an hour so the market doesn’t move on you on your way to the kantor. The point is registered with the National Bank of Poland (NBP) and operates under AML regulations.

Current US dollar rate in Warsaw – USD/PLN today

We have two rates: the online rate (the one you see here) and the in-office rate on the board. The online rate is for everyone, regardless of amount – it’s the same competitive rate that at other kantors you only get on large transactions. The in-office board rate is usually a bit higher on sale and a bit lower on buy, the way it normally goes. If you’re exchanging dollars with us, it almost always pays to check the online rate before walking up to the counter.

The difference between the buy rate and the sell rate is the spread. The lower the spread, the better the rate for the client – which is why our online rate looks so good compared to banks and competitors. The mid-market NBP rate, sometimes used as a reference, only updates once a day and is mainly used for accounting, so there will always be a gap in actual transactions.

Buying and selling US dollars at Argentarii kantor

Buying dollars – what rate we use to buy your USD

We buy USD banknotes of all denominations from current series – new and lightly worn notes at the full rate. Moderately worn ones too, as long as they aren’t torn or written on. What we don’t buy: older notes with smaller portraits (so-called small heads), heavily damaged, torn, written-on, stained or seriously discoloured bills, and coins – no US cents, quarters or circulating silver. Show your bills at the counter before the transaction: we’ll quickly check that everything’s in order. PLN paid out on the spot, in cash.

Selling dollars – buying USD for zloty

We keep a steady stock of USD in the main denominations: 100, 50, 20 and 10 USD bills are usually available off the shelf. If you need specific denominations or a larger amount (say, over 10,000 USD), call ahead – we’ll set the bills aside and lock in a rate while we’re at it.

Hourly rate hold

You can lock in our online rate by phone for an hour. Check the rate, call, agree on the amount and your arrival time – the rate is yours within that window regardless of what the market does. Especially useful for larger amounts or when you have half the city to cross to get to the kantor.

How a dollar exchange works at our kantor

  1. Check the current USD/PLN rate – here on the site or by phone.
  2. If the rate suits you, you can lock it in for an hour.
  3. Come to ul. Grzybowska 61, entrance from the Platinum Towers gallery side, ground floor.
  4. Tell us what you need: buy or sell USD, in what amount.
  5. Our staff checks the bills with a detector and counts the amount in front of you.
  6. You get the cash and a transaction receipt.

The exchange usually takes 3-5 minutes. For transactions at or above the equivalent of 15,000 EUR (around 65,000 PLN), AML verification kicks in: a national ID card or passport is enough, adding a few minutes.

FAQ – questions about dollar exchange

How much does a US dollar cost in Warsaw today?

We post the current USD/PLN rate on our site and update it in real time. You can also call: we’ll quote the rate from a few minutes ago and, if you’d like, hold it for an hour.

What rate does Argentarii kantor use to buy dollars?

The buy rate (bid) from the site, the one you see right now. This rate is for everyone, regardless of amount – you don’t need to exchange hundreds of dollars to get good terms.

What rate do you sell dollars at?

The sell rate (ask) from the site, with no commission. You buy at exactly the rate you see online – the in-office board usually shows a slightly higher price, the online rate is better.

Can I lock in a rate?

Yes, by phone, for an hour from the moment of booking. The rate is locked for you within that window, regardless of market moves. Just give us the amount and your approximate arrival time.

What documents do I need to exchange dollars?

Up to the equivalent of 15,000 EUR (about 65,000 PLN) – none. Above that threshold, under the anti-money-laundering act, we ask for a national ID card or passport. The verification itself takes a few minutes.

Do you buy damaged USD bills or small portrait notes?

No. We don’t accept older series notes with smaller portraits (“small heads”). Heavily damaged, torn, written-on or stained notes – also no. We do accept new and moderately worn bills from current series.

Do you buy US coins?

No. We don’t buy cents, quarters or other circulating US coins. Our USD buying is limited to banknotes only.

Kantor or online – which is better value?

A walk-in kantor gives you cash on the spot. Online kantors require a transfer, so you wait 1-3 business days. With us you get the online rate together with cash off the counter, so it’s often the best combination.

What USD/PLN spread do you offer?

The exact value moves with the market, so we display it live in the rates table online. As a rule, the online spread is significantly lower than at banks – and that’s our main advantage.
