This page collects the registration details of Argentarii Sp. z o.o. and the rules under which we run our exchange office at ul. Grzybowska 61 in Warsaw. KRS, NIP and REGON numbers, the entry number in the NBP register of currency exchange activity, the moment when we ask for an ID document, and what we do not do as an exchange office.

Who runs the Argentarii exchange office?
The exchange office at ul. Grzybowska 61 in Warsaw is run by Argentarii Sp. z o.o., a company entered in the Polish National Court Register (Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy, KRS) under number 0001037655. The registered office of the company is at ul. Modlińska 247 in Warsaw, while customers are served only at the exchange office on Grzybowska. Full registration data is in the table below.

The registered office and the exchange office are two different addresses. Currency exchange and gold valuation take place only at ul. Grzybowska 61. There is no customer service at the registered office address.
We publish this data under art. 206 of the Polish Commercial Companies Code (Kodeks spółek handlowych), which requires the company name, its registered office and address, the registry court together with the KRS number, the tax ID and the share capital to appear on the company website as well.
On what legal basis does the Argentarii exchange office operate?
Argentarii Sp. z o.o. is entered in the register of currency exchange activity under number 19875/2023/21912/2026. The register is kept by the President of Narodowy Bank Polski under the Foreign Exchange Act of 27 July 2002. Without such an entry, running an exchange office in Poland is not allowed: this is a regulated activity, not ordinary retail.
The register is public. Before you exchange a larger amount at any exchange office, check it in the NBP search engine at kantor.nbp.pl. It takes a minute.
The entry is not a one-off formality. A change of address, of the management board or of the scope of activity has to be reported to the register, and NBP inspects exchange offices for compliance with foreign exchange regulations.
When does the exchange office ask for an ID document?
The Argentarii exchange office asks for an ID document for a transaction equivalent to EUR 15,000 or more. The equivalent is calculated at the average NBP rate of the transaction day. Any photo document works: an ID card, a passport or a residence card. Below that threshold we do not ask for a document.
The obligation comes from the Act of 1 March 2018 on counteracting money laundering and terrorist financing. Under that act an exchange office is an obliged institution, and we have no discretion here: the data is established and recorded before the exchange, not after it.
The same threshold covers several smaller exchanges that together exceed it and look connected. Data collected this way serves only to meet the statutory obligation. It does not go into a marketing database, because we do not keep one.
On what terms does the Argentarii exchange office exchange currency?
The Argentarii exchange office handles 24 currencies and both buys and sells every one of them. We charge no commission, and the rate does not depend on the transaction amount. Below are five rules that apply to every exchange.
- We buy and sell all 24 currencies. A zero in the sell column on the board only means that we do not have that currency in the till at the moment. For a larger amount or less common denominations, call a day earlier and we will prepare the cash for an agreed hour.
- We charge no commission. We earn on the spread, that is on the difference between the buy rate and the sell rate.
- The rate does not depend on the amount. The same table applies at 200 and at 20,000 zloty.
- You can reserve the rate from the board for 60 minutes through the form on the contact page. The reservation is free.
- We accept banknotes only. We do not accept coins — the cost of processing them exceeds their value, so small change is best spent on the spot.
Collectible and bullion coin buying is a separate service, just like gold buying.
Which banknotes does the exchange office not accept?
The Argentarii exchange office buys only current banknote series. We do not accept notes withdrawn from circulation, heavily damaged, taped or torn. We do not accept coins in any currency. Which series are excluded in a given currency is described on that currency page.
The cases that come up most often:
- Swiss franc: 9th series only, the 8th lost validity on 30 April 2021;
- Czech koruna: no issues from 1995–1999;
- Ukrainian hryvnia: no 1, 2, 5 and 10 UAH notes of the 2003–2007 designs, withdrawn from circulation on 2 March 2026;
- US dollar: no old small-head notes and no heavily damaged pieces;
- Danish krone: no 1000 denomination and no 1944, 1952, 1972 or 1997 series;
- Turkish lira: no E-8 series and no notes from before the 2005 redenomination;
- Chinese yuan: no fourth series.

How to file a complaint?
You can file a complaint at the Argentarii exchange office in person at ul. Grzybowska 61, by phone at +48 791 901 979 or by e-mail at kontakt@agkantor.pl. We reply within 30 days of the report. Give the date and time of the transaction and the receipt or exchange confirmation.
With those details we can reconstruct the operation and the case moves faster. If the receipt is lost, write the approximate hour and amount.
Who processes personal data?
The controller of personal data is Argentarii Sp. z o.o., with its registered office at ul. Modlińska 247 in Warsaw. For data matters write to cookies@agkantor.pl. Data from above-threshold transactions is kept for the period required by the anti-money-laundering act, and data from the rate reservation form is used to handle that request.

What does the Argentarii exchange office not do?
The Argentarii exchange office does not give investment advice and does not forecast exchange rates. We exchange cash at the rate of the day, and that is where our role ends. If you are considering holding savings in a foreign currency or in gold, that is a question for a licensed adviser, not for a cashier.
Rates published on the site are for information. The binding rate is the one on the board in the exchange office at the moment of the transaction.
